Family-Friendly Saranac Lake Daffest Schedule of Events

51,000 bulbs are starting to wake up in Saranac 
Lake New York (NY)  in time for the first Daffest April 29 - May 1, 2011.


Throughout the weekend there will be garden tours, historic tours and the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce will have a booth with a map available.

Friday April 29, 2011
Noon Mayor Rabideau's Proclamation
Pleinnair Artists will be painting throughout the village all weekend.
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Wigmore Garden Tour 30 people max -click here to sign up
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tour Historic Saranac Village Will Rogers offered every 30 minutes
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Student Guided Tours of North Country Community College Campus
3:00 p.m. Guided Historic Tour 1.5 hour $5 donation from Riverside Park
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Park Tours, Neighborhood Tours and Boat Tours (weather permitting)
5:00 p.m.  Wine and Beer tasting Blue Moon Café' and Wing Night Captain Cook's
9:00 p.m.  Waterhole # 3 Bearquarium (Vermont's Finest Funk Band) $6 admission

Saturday April 30
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Tour Historic Saranac Village at Will Rogers offered every 30 minutes
10:00 a.m. Guided Historic Tour 1.5 hours $5 donation From Riverside Park
noon - 4:00 p.m.  Junk To Funk Garbage Art and Recycled Fashion Show Sparks Athletic Complex
Come enjoy designs made from recyclable materials! There will be a fashion show, silent auction, art show, band and more! Hosted by the students of NCCC !
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Lemon Festival Riverside Park:
• Live Performance by Saranac Lake's "Lawn Chair Ladies"
• Paul Smith's College  Daffodil Cake Demo, Pastry baking and interaction
• North Country Community College Wilderness Rec Leadership Program will be offering cooking demo, bowdrilling/primitive fire demo; hypothermia/dressing for backountry display; Leave No Trace/Backcountry Trash display; "Geocache" exercise -- use a compass to follow bearing and locate the prize.
• The Hunt for the Signature Daffest Pastry begins throughout the village at all local cafes'
• Blue Line Sport Shop "Fishing Clinic" Fly and Spin Reel
• Adirondack Lakes and Trail Kayak Clinic and Demos: Info on Spring, Summer and Fall wilderness and paddling packages will be available
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Horse Drawn Wagon Rides, sponsored by the Paul Smiths Draft
Horse Club
10:45 a.m.  Kick Off Parade featuring "Heather Pearsall and the Penn Dixie Band"
along race route from Overpass on LaPan Highway into Riverside Park!
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  "Heather Pearsall and the Penn Dixie Band" will perform live show in the Bandshell at Riverside Park
11:00 a.m. Daffest Derby
Old Fashioned Soap Box derby 3 age Classes : George LaPan Highway 
2:30 p.m.  Award Ceremony

Noon Crazy for Canines Doggie Parade!… Man's best friend paraded down Main St. in costume! Sponsored by Adirondack. High Peaks Dog Training Club
11:30 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. Bake/Food sale to benefit Tri Lakes Humane Society
11:30 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. Homemade doggie treats and toys will be offered for sale
Award Ceremony in Riverside Park following the parade
Noon Waterhole # 3 Bloody Mary Sunday
